Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
Easter Hat Parade
April 2025
Each year all students K-6 take part in our much loved Easter Hat Parade. This event is a wonderful opportunity to showcase creativity and celebrate Easter together.
Students are encouraged to make their Easter at home using any materials that they think will be bright and colourful. On the day we invite our parent and friend to attend and watch the wonderful parade.
Our P&C coordinate an Easter Basket raffle from donations from our community. Many students win a wonderful basket of eggs to take home for the holidays.
NAIDOC Week
July 2025
Each year, our school proudly celebrates NAIDOC Week, a special time to recognise and honour the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
During this week students take part in a range of activities designed to deepen their understand and appreciation of aboriginal culture. These may include storytelling, music, dance and food tasting.
Kororo PS always has an indigenous art gallery each year, where all classes contribute to the artworks.
Peer Support Program
August 2025
Our Peer Support program took place in Term 3. Year 6 impressed us all with their leadership, time management, communication and teamwork as they facilitated their multi-age groups through a variety of sessions focused on the Leader in Me - Seven Habits
Habit 1: Be Proactive
Habit 2: Begin with the end in mind
Habit 3: Put first things first
Habit 4: Think win-win
Habit 5: Seek first to understand, then be understood
Habit 6: Synergise
Habit 7: Sharpen the saw
Each week’s challenge encourages all students try something new and work together with their peers.
Grandparents Day
October 2025
We celebrated our wonderful grandparents with a beautiful Grandparents’ Day at KPS in Term 4!
Our K–2 students thoroughly enjoyed presenting a joyful assembly filled with singing and dancing performances, followed by classroom visits where grandparents joined in our learning — reading books, playing maths games, and exploring how school life has changed over time.
We finished with a lovely morning tea, sharing stories, laughter, and plenty of smiles.
Year 2 and 3 Swimming and Water Safety Program
November 2025
The Year 2 Swimming and Water Safety Program is a fun and important way to help our young learners feel confident and safe in the water! At this age, kids are exploring new adventures, and swimming is a wonderful skill that brings lots of joy and keeps them safe. Through games, friendly lessons, and practice, students learn how to swim and understand important safety tips to stay protected around pools, beaches, and lakes. It’s all about building confidence, staying active, and having a great time while learning skills that can last a lifetime.
Our Kororo kids always look forward to this activity every year.
Year 5 Camp to Lake Ainsworth
In Year 5 our students have the opportunity to attend a 3 day, 2 night sport and recreation camp to Lake Ainsworth at Lennox Head in northern NSW.
The camp offers students a range of fun and educational activities like kayaking, bushwalking, team-building challenges, and environmental learning, all set in a stunning natural environment. It provides a safe and supportive space for our students to build confidence, make new friends, and develop important skills while connecting with nature.
Lake Ainsworth Camp is the perfect place for our students to explore, learn, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
